Houston Holiday Open
a Great Success!
Hope all are home safely from their New
Year's endeavors, be it from the HHO 2005 or elsewhere. Some who
attended the recent Houston Holiday Open 2005 tournament decided to
stay a few extra days and have been enjoying the shuffleboard fun in
Houston after finishing their play at the HHO. Imagine that... even
after a week of fun and competition during the HHO, some hadn't had
enough and stayed in Houston for more!

(so bookmark and check it out as more updates are to follow). There
was a great turnout this year and everyone had a wonderful time with
many breaking in the New Year with the famous HHO New Years' Eve
blast! Sol Lipkin and Susie were there for several days and enjoyed
watching the competition and participating in the fun too and, of
course, all players love seeing and visiting with Sol Lipkin who will
be celebrating his 100th Birthday soon.
One of the highlights during the HHO 2005 tournament was the well deserved induction of Jack Scott (HHO Tournament Director) into the Texas Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. Bowers 2006 Ratings
Booklets
(now available to order) 
The Bowers are now taking orders for the
2006 Player's Rating booklets. An Adobe PDF format will be available
on the Bowers Corner website soon (raters booklets were provided to
about 20 raters during the HHO 2005 tournament and the remainder of
raters were mailed their booklets this week). There have been several
name changes and updates reported by players that viewed the rating
booklets at the HHO 2005 tournament and more may be reported once all
raters have received, reviewed, and shared their booklets with local
players. The first printing of the booklet was primarily for raters
with the extras being available for players to order. Any/all updates
received prior to the next print of booklets will be incorporated into
the reprint. Reprints will be available when the extras are depleted
and the volume of orders warrant ordering updated reprints. Once the
online Adobe PDF booklet is posted on the website, any/all updates
will be incorporated immediately as they come in. The first two pages
of the new booklet acknowledge and thank all those
"Sponsors" that donated in 2005 to the Bowers Rating System
and/or website maintenance and/or the website's "free"
advertisement or hosting.
Ron & Debbie Bowers wish to thank Dave Shewbridge (owner of Shewprints in Pasadena, Maryland) for printing this year's rating booklet -- a high quality, coil bound booklet, at an affordable rate. The front and back cover are in high quality cover stock and in color print. To get on the list for your personal copy of a 2006 rating booklet, write to Ron & Debbie Bowers, 801 Vincent Place, Pflugerville, Texas 78660 stating the quantity you wish to order (if possible, please send a donation to help cover the cost of printing and mailing the booklets). The Bowers also wish to thank Lynda French for assisting with the booklet design and working with Shewprints to get the booklets out to raters timely and to thank the HHO 2005 players for their donations to order booklets and to the players who donated to the HHO Bowers' "Piggy Bank".

Upcoming Championship Tournaments
The original flyer for the Oklahoma
State Championship had a January date error.. it is being held on
January 13-15, 2006 (coming up soon!) at the American Legion Post
